PAC, a water soluble anionic polymer derived from cellulose, is comprised of the woody parts and cell walls of plants. It is chemically modified from natural cellulose and obtained water soluable cellulose ethers.  

PAC is used for many different technical applications. These uses are based mainly on its reaction with water content in the finished product. It is used alone or in conjunction with other components in the system to create thickening, water-binding, suspension, stabilizing and emulsifying characteristics. Widly used in Oil drilling fluid control additives, especially in salt water wells and offshore drilling applications. It is a combined filtration controller and minimal viscosifier in fresh and salt water base drilling systems. It is ideal in low solid mud, designed for fast penetration.
